This Coronavirus has not only severely disrupted every day life, but also long standing traditions. At 1:10pm eastern time today, the first pitch of Major League Baseball was supposed to be thrown to start Opening Day 2020. Opening Day has now been postponed indefinitely. The rumors suggest a possible June or July start to the 2020 MLB season. The stadium was also set to host the 2020 Major League Baseball All-Star Games, but that too has been postponed indefinitely.
In light of this, I thought I’d write up a little blurb or two about Dodger’s Stadium here in Los Angeles, and post photos of the tour I took of the facility a couple years back.
Located in the Elysian Park area of Los Angeles, just a few short miles from historic downtown LA, Dodgers Stadium opened in April 1962. The 56,000 seat venue has hosted everything from MLB All-Star Games, to Olympic events, to major concerts by Depeche Mode, The Beatles, Madonna, The Rolling Stones, and The Jackson’s Victory tour in 1984 selling out all six shows to a crowd of 360,000.
A couple years ago, the LA beard club, The Gentlemen’s Social CLub of Los Angeles and I went on a tour of Dodger’s Stadium. It’s in depth and historic…we weren’t allowed on the grass though.
